• NEW! Corinne Bailey Rae's husband, saxophonist Jason Rae, died on 3/22/08, most likely from a drug overdose.
• Anthony Minghella died in London on 3/18/08 from a brain hemorrhage during a routine operation on his neck. He was 54-years-old and he was best known as the director of The English Patient, for which he took home the Best Director Oscar in 1997.
• Michael Stripe, frontman for R.E.M., has officially announced he is gay, though the entire world has known from the moment he became famous. The singer said "I was totally open with the band and my family and my friends and certainly the people I was sleeping with. I thought it was pretty obvious." and "Now I recognize that to have public figures be very open about their sexuality helps some kid somewhere out there."
• Samantha Morton reveled that she suffered a severe stroke in early 2006. It is believed that the stroke was caused by head injuries she suffered after a ceiling collapsed in her home. The actress, who has now fully recovered, explained that she spent nearly a year learning to walk again, and that she did not announce her stroke earlier for fear it would negatively affect her career.
• Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is receiving treatments.
• Scott Weiland, frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has entered rehab of his own volition. Weiland completed 28 days in rehab and is now out.
• Naomi Campbell was hospitalized in Sao Paulo, Brazil reportedly to have a cyst removed. She was treated by an infectious disease specialist and a gynecologist.
• The Writers' Guild of America and producers have come to an agreement which is going to the WGA for a vote to end the strike, just in time for the Oscars. The strike ended on 2/13/08 when the writers and producers agreed on a three year contract.
• Diego Pillco plead guilty on 2/14/08 to killing filmmaker/actress Adrienne Shelly in November 2006. Pillco, who was arrested days after the murder, admitted to strangling Shelly after she caught him robbing her. He then hung her body in an attempt to make her death look like a suicide. He will be sentenced on March 6th; he faces up to 25 years in prison.

I've decided that celebrities should really stop with all this marriage business. We all know it's only a matter of years, perhaps only months, until they get divorced. So, I'm saying it would be a lot more cost efficient and give me more free time while I'm not writing about it. It's really a win-win situation for all. They don't need pre-nups, Vera Wang, or the drunk photographers, and we'll just keep nosing into their more exciting business, like their sex tapes. *Sigh* Alas, people still seem to like doing this elaborate legal announcement that they'll stop fucking everyone else, so I must report it.

This is the beauty of celebrity news, if there is no scandal that day you can just make one up! • NEW! Richie Sambora, (of Bon Jovi) was arrested for DUI in Laguna Beach on 3/25/08, after police spotting him driving his black Hummer "erratically." Sambora's 10-year-old daughter, Ava, was apparently in the car with him. Ava's mother is Heather Locklear.
• NEW! The family of John Graziano is suing the Hogan family for a yet to be determined sum of money. Nick Hogan, son of Hulk Hogan , was invloved in a near fatal car accident which put Graziano in a coma. Nick was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. The total cost of medical bills for Graziano is unknown as he is still in the hospital, but it is rumored that the current bills have already crossed the one million dollar mark.
• Thomas Jane (The Punisher) was arrested for DUI after being clocked going 124 mph in his Maserati on I-5.
• Lisa Marie Presley is suing The Daily Mail for printing an article that claimed she was gaining weight due to her poor eating habits, when in reality, she is pregnant. She's pissed because she felt she had to reveal her pregnancy early due to the false article.
• Bai Ling was arrested on 2/13/08 for shoplifting in a gift store in the Los Angeles International Airport. Ling picked up two Star magazines and one pack of batteries (about $16 worth of merch) and left the store without paying. A store employee made a private persons arrest. She was booked misdemeanor shoplifting and she is due in court March 5th. Ling was officially charged and faces up to a $250 fine. Ling plead guilty to disturbing the peace and paid a $250 fine.
• Steve-O (from Jackass) was arrested around 5am on 3/3/08 for possession of unknown drugs. Police were called by a neighbor and police found Steve-O creating holes in his apartment walls.
• Boy George will stand trial for his false imprisonment charges. A random guy named Auden Karlsen claims that Boy George handcuffed him to a bed and held him captive in April 2007. George pleaded not guilty on 2/28/08.
• Mischa Barton was arrested for DUI, drug possession and driving with a suspended license, after she was pulled over in West Hollywood on 12/27/07. Barton was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, and driving without a valid license. Her arraignment is scheduled for 2/28/08.
• Lindsay Lohan was sued for $200,000 by an LA busboy who claims she was intoxicated when she hit his van in 2005. Lohan counter sued claiming that the California Highway Patrol concluded that the busboy had caused the crash by making an illegal U-turn. The police placed blame on the busboy and the suit has been dropped.
• Aaron Carter, the younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, was arrested for possesion of two ounces of marijuana after he was pulled over for speeding.
• Barron Hilton, the 18-year-old brother of Paris Hilton, was arrested at 8:04 a.m. for DUI in Malibu, CA, on 2/12/08. He had a blood alcohol reading of .14. The charge against Hilton is a misdemeanor and bail has been set at $5,000.
• Nicolas Cage is suing Kathleen Turner after she released her autobiography, Send Yourself Roses, in which she claims that Cage was arrested for DUI twice and that he stole a Chihuahua. Cage claims "I have never been arrested for anything in my life, nor have I stolen a dog."
• Mel Gibson is being sued by Benedict Fitzgerald, his co-writer for Passion of the Christ. Benedict accuses Gibson of fraud, breach of contract and unfair business practices, and seeks $5 million in compensation. Fitzgerald claims that he was deceived because Gibson told him that he was working on a small picture that would bring in little profit, and no profit for Gibson. Fitzgerald was paid $75,000 for his work and claims he had to borrow $200,000 from Gibson for expenses. The film grossed over $600 million.
• Brandy's mother, Sonja Norwood, is suing the Kardashians for $120,636 in unauthorized charges to Brandy's credit card. Kim Kardashian worked as Brandy's stylist in 2004, and was apparently authorized to make one charge on the card. Sonja claims that Kim gave the card to her siblings and together the family racked up the bill. A rep for the Kardashians says that the charges "meritless" and that they look "forward to proving the absurdity of these claims in a court of law." Sonja seeks reimbursement of the money plus 10% interest.
• Sam Lutfi has been accused by Britney Spears' mother, Lynne, of druging Britney. The restraining order against Lutfi requires him to stay 250 yards from Britney. You can read the entire restraining order declaration by Lynne Spears at Us Weekly.
• Teri Hatcher is being sued by skin care company Hydroderm, after she supposedly broke her contract by getting lip injections with another product. On 12/6/07, a judge delayed Hydroderm's motion to start depositions in the case and called the company's claims "character assassination" of the "worst kind." On 2/4/08, an LA judge ruled that the suit should be settled in arbitration and not in a court of law.
• Wesley Snipes may go to trial for income tax evasion of $38.9 million from 1999-2004. Snipes' trial began on 1/16/08 in Florida. Snipes was acquitted of tax fraud, but was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of failing to file a tax return. The actor faces up to three years in federal prison.
• Britney Spears is being sued for $50,000 for unpaid clothing bills.
• Actress Hunter Tylo filed a wrongful death lawsuit on 1/24/08 against her son's therapist, Shanna Downing. In court papers, Tylo claims that her son's death "is related to Michael's seizure disorder which the defendants failed to properly diagnose, refer for diagnosis or treat." Her son, Michael, died in October 2007 after having a seizure which caused him to fall into a pool and drown. Michael was 19. A hearing has been set for 2/26/08, and a trial is scheduled for October.
• Michelle Rodriguez was released early from jail after serving 18 days of her 180 day sentence. The actress was sent to jail after breaking probation in her DUI case.
• O.J. Simpson went back to jail on 1/11/08 before his hearing in Las Vegas on 1/16/08
• Jessica Seinfeld (wife of Jerry) is being sued for plagiarism in her new cookbook Deceptively Delicious. Missy Chase Lapine, the author of The Sneaky Chef, claims that Seinfeld "brazenly plagiarized" recipes.
• Heidi Klum is being sued by Van Cleef & Arpels (a jewelry company) for $25,000 for copyright infringement. The company claims that Klum's jewelry line used a clover design from Van Cleef & Arpels.
• Danielle Fishel (the girl from Boy Meets World) was arrested for DUI on 12/20/07
• Six years after the incident, R. Kelly's trial in his child pornography case will begin January 14th
• Kate Moss is suing Pete Doherty in order to prevent him from releasing a sex tape they made together
• Tony Parker is suing the X17 photo agency for $20 million, for publishing the story about his alleged affair with French model, Alexandra Paressant
• Daniel Baldwin didn't show up for a progress report hearing on 12/7/07. He was arrested last year for possession of drug paraphernalia and for being under the influence. A bench warrant was issed for the actor, who is apparently filming a movie out of the country, though he is not supposed to leave the US without the court's permission.
• Vanessa Hudgens' former attorney, Brian Schall, is suing the young star, claiming that she owes him more than $150,000 in back commissions. Hudgens' new lawyer is drawing attention to the fact that Hudgens was just 16 when the contract was signed, while Schall is pointing out that she waited too long after turning 18 to void the contract.
• Dennis Quaid is suing Baxter Healthcare Corp. for making Heparin, the drug that his twin babies were given an overdose of at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
• Akon threw a 15-year-old boy off the stage and into the crowd at one of his concerts, after the boy had apparently thrown something at Akon. The boy landed on a girl, giving her a concussion. He is being charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment, which are both misdemeanors.
